Danube Trek

The hotels are mostly small family run hotels.  All rooms have private bathroom, mostly with showers. You will be assured of dinner with local specialities and buffet continental breakfasts.

Here is a brief description of our normal hotels, however if full, we may well change the hotel to something similar.

Night 1 A well located 3 star hotel, situated directly on the river Krems in the town centre, you can enjoy a wonderful view over the picturesque old town of Krems. Dinner (large choice) and extensive buffet breakfast can be taken on the terrace overlooking the river. The hotel , built in 1887, is still run by the same family.  Bedroom has TV, hairdryer, shower, & free wi-fi.

Night 2 Situated in the centre of Dürnstein, with beautiful views from the large courtyard garden to the famous blue & white tower of the parish church (formerly an Augustinian Abbey). 16 pleasant rooms. This 3* hotel has been in the same family for over 200 years. Dinner has many options, especially vegetarian, Buffet breakfast.

Night 3 & 4 Family run 3* hotel. All 16 rooms are well appointed, with shower, hairdryer, TV & free wifi, and minibar. Buffet breakfast in the hotel but dinner is taken in a nearby restaurant. You can sample local wine in their ‘cellar’ and many guests congregate here in the evening. It is located across the road from the Danube 300m from the ferry and very close to the centre of town

Night 5 One of the oldest hotels in the area this 3* hotel welcomed its first guests in the mid 1600’s. Fortunately the rooms have been updated since then some have a bath but most with shower, a few have a balcony. Dinner and breakfast can be taken in the garden.

Night 6 Family run 3* hotel in the centre of the town, near the famous baroque abbey. It has a sauna, solarium and Turkish bath. It has 74 rooms some with a bath and some with balcony. Dinner and breakfast are taken in a ‘stubl’.
