Holiday Accommodation Details

La Palma Trek

As the island is underdeveloped for mass tourism, accommodation is limited in some places and uses mainly small village pensions. All of the accommodation is comfortable and well positioned for the trek route. Your accommodation will provide rooms with private bathroom (some with shower only). only). Dinner and breakfast are provided each night, except the last 2 nights in Santa Cruz, where it is breakfast only. Some of the meals will be provided in nearby restaurants or bars.

These are the hotels that we most frequently use for this trek. We may use others depending on availability.

Nights 1, 6 & 7: Santa Cruz

This hotel with 25 rooms is situated above the port of Santa Cruz, with views towards the mountains and is a few minutes’ walk from the main pedestrianised centre of the town.  The rooms are large with balconies, a kitchen area, bathroom with bath and overhead shower, a hairdryer, TV, LAN internet available, and a safe in the bedroom. Breakfast is a buffet and offers a wide variety of choice. Dinner is taken at a nearby restaurant.

Night 2: Puerto Espindola

Here you stay in a very simple apartment, based in a traditional Canarian building in Puerto Espindola. The room includes a bath room. There are facilities for making a drink, but no tea or coffee is provided, but there is a bar at Meson del Mar at the harbour where you will also take dinner. In the morning you can buy a cake at the owner's bakery next door, and breakfast will be at Los Sauces, the next village you visit, up the hill.

Night 3: Barlovento

A spectacular hotel and spa, about 1km from the village of Barlovento, situated in the Laurisilva Forest with panoramic views to the sea and mountains. The hotel is built in traditional Canary-Island style and all 40 rooms have a balcony or terrace, telephone, satellite TV, minibar, safe and bathrooms with bath, shower, bathrobes and hairdryer. The indoor swimming pool, Jacuzzi and gym are available free of charge, and sauna, steam room and massage are available with charge. Outside there are tennis courts, a swimming pool and attractive sub-tropical gardens. Wi-fi is available in the public areas.  The lounge has a fireplace. Dinner is served in the restaurant with traditional Canarian dishes.

Nights 4 & 5: Los Franceses

The finca is owned by a British couple who came to La Palma 11 years ago and lovingly restored the old finca, deciding to offer bed-and-breakfast accommodation. It is located on a hillside with fantastic views all around. A tiny but comfortable bedroom with en-suite shower room.  A large sitting room with kitchen and a wood-burning stove for chilly evenings. There are also various outside seating areas. Tea/coffee-making facilities are available, as is wi-fi. Dinner is taken in the restored bodega and is a romantic candle-lit experience.

Nights 6 & 7 alternative: Santa Cruz

This is a Parador, a little luxury at the end of the trek. This hotel has views over the coastline. All of the 78 rooms have a telephone, satellite television and safe. There is an outdoor seasonal swimming pool, a gym and a sauna. There is free wi-fi available in public areas. The restaurant specialises in local dishes, using local ingredients.
