We have personally stayed in or visited all of our accommodations. They have all been selected for their great locations, friendly atmosphere and traditional hospitality, as well as the warm welcome they offer to walkers. Below is a summary of our usual accommodations.

Night 1: Praia

Standard Grade - Hotel Perola  

This 3* hotel is well located with many of its 22 rooms overlooking the sea. The rooms are air conditioned and there is also a roof-top swimming pool. The hotel only offers breakfast, but dinner can be taken in the restaurant next door.

Higher Grade - Pestana Tropico 

A 4* hotel built in an old prison, but the rooms are certainly not cells! Well-appointed with air conditioning and most with a bath. There is a swimming pool, and restaurant, where you will dine.

Nights 2 & 3: Rui Vaz

 

Quinta da Montanha 

This hotel is located in the middle of the mountains. All of its 28 rooms have outstanding views. No air-conditioning as it is cool enough due to the altitude. The owners provide excellent hospitality with dinner with many products from their own garden.

Nights 4 & 7: Fogo - São Filipe

 Standard Grade - Hotel Savana

A beautifully restored colonial house with 16 air-conditioned en suite rooms, some with balconies and sea views. It is well located in the town. A plunge pool is situated within the courtyard. This hotel is B&B only, dinner is taken in the restaurant next door.

Higher Grade - Hotel Xaguate 

This 4* Hotel is located in S. Filipe City. This is a modern hotel with 39 air-conditioned rooms most with a sea view across to Brava, another island. There is a swimming pool.

Nights 5 & 6: Portela

Casa Marisa II 

A small 10- room hotel run by local villagers. All the simply furnished rooms are en suite with warm water. Meals are taken in the restaurant. Electricity is only available in the evenings. It is in the most dramatic setting and a real experience. If you prefer, we can return you to São Filipe each night.

We will always endeavour to use the accommodations detailed above. Occasionally, due to limited availability or refurbishments, we may have to accommodate you into alternative accommodations which are not listed in the above description. If those listed are unavailable, the alternative accommodation will be advised to you before travel.
