Western Way

Breakfast and picnic lunch is provided daily, except no picnic on arrival, departure and rest day.  Dinner is provided for 4 nights

We offer two grades of hotels here, standard of higher graded, it is not possible to mix them.

The standard graded hotels are small family B&B’s.  All rooms have private bathroom, mostly with showers. On the first four nights dinner is included and taken in a nearby restaurant. On the last three nights you can either walk to a nearby pub/restaurant or be taken into Westport for a wide choice of restaurants. Return will be at your own convenience by taxi not included.

The higher graded hotels are a mixture of 3* and 4*  hotels. Dinner on the first four nights is taken in the hotels, for the remaining three nights you are free to choose from the vast selection in Westport.

Night 1 & 2 (Standard Grade)  

You will be assured of a Big Connemara "Cead Mile Failte" (Welcome)  at this small farmhouse, set in a remote location on Lough Inagh.  All rooms have a private bathroom with shower.  There is a pleasant public lounge or you can sit in the garden and admire the views. Dinner is taken in a nearby hotel where you will be served, local game, fish or seafood. You will not be hungry after the full Irish breakfast!

Night 1 & 2 (Higher Grade)

Situated on the tranquil shores of Lough Inagh, this charming 4-star country retreat offers 13 elegantly furnished en suite rooms, many with a lake view. The rooms have TV and there is an oak-panelled bar, with open log fire in the cosy library. WIFI is available in the hotel. Originally a fishing lodge, the hotel prides itself on excellent traditional menus based around local wild game, fish and seafood. Full Irish breakfast is served in the restaurant.

Nights 3 & 4 (Higher Grade)

In the centre of Leenane on the shores of Killary Harbour lies Ireland's oldest coaching inn. Dating from 1796, you'll find traditional home cooking, antique furniture and the most spectacular views in Ireland. The hotel is family-run with 34 rooms, some with a few over the harbour, many with original antique furniture, all with private bathroom. In the restaurant fresh seafood from the harbour and vegetables from the hotel garden are used every day. Full Irish breakfast is also included.

Nights 3 & 4 (Standard Grade)

Tonight is a B&B with a difference, it occupies and old convent (well, a school run by live-in nuns), and has much atmosphere with breakfast taken under the stained glass windows in the unique ambiance of the old chapel.  There are 5 bedrooms all with a private bathroom and shower with unrivalled views of the Killary harbour and Fjord. A private sitting room is available to all guests. The establishment has been run by the same family for 30 years, and they also run a restaurant in the village centre  about 300 yards away where you will have dinner. Wifi is available in the B&B free of charge.

Night 5, 6 & 7 (Standard Grade)

In Westport your accommodation is at a family-run B&B located on the coast road overlooking the sea. This will be a home from home as your hosts are a walking guide and his wife. They have been running this B&B for 20 years. The 6 rooms all have private bathroom with a shower, Breakfast is a scrumptious full Irish breakfast and is taken in the dining room. Wifi is available. Dinner is not included but your host will advise on all the best options.

Night 5, 6 & 7 (Higher Grade)

The final hotel is 3 star category situated in the heart of Westport. The 52 rooms of this hotel  have private bathroom, some with a bath, telephone and TV. You will have free access to the Westport Leisure Park where you can use the swimming pool, hot tub and sauna. WIFI is available throughout the hotel. Breakfast is a full Irish Breakfast and is taken in the restaurant. You are free to choose for dinner from the many restaurants that Westport has to offer or to eat in the hotel in their locally acclaimed bistro style restaurant.
